Peter F. Drake, PhD

Peter F. Drake, PhD, is currently the Managing General Partner of Mayflower Partners, a healthcare investment fund. From 1999 to 2002, he served as a Managing Director in the Equity Research Department of Prudential Securities, Inc., after Prudential acquired Vector Securities International, an investment banking firm co-founded by Dr. Drake in 1988. Vector specialized in raising capital for emerging healthcare companies and acted as an advisor in merger and alliance transactions in the healthcare arena. In total, Vector raised over $7B in equity transactions for healthcare companies and was involved in merger and acquisition transactions exceeding $1.5B.

Dr. Drake also co-founded Deerfield Management, a $2B healthcare hedge fund and he co-founded Vector Fund Management, a $230M healthcare venture capital fund. Dr. Drake joined the investment banking firm of Kidder, Peabody & Co., as  biotechnology analyst in 1983, becoming a partner in 1986. Dr. Drake received a BA degree in Biology from Bowdoin College and attended the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his PhD in Neurobiology and Biochemistry from Bryn Mawr College, he spent three years as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Developmental Biology and Anatomy at Case Western Reserve University.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Trustmark Insurance Co., a healthcare insurance provider; The Alliance for Aging Research, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and accelerating medical discoveries to improve the experence of aging and health; TLContact, a private medical information services company; Ocularis Pharma, a private specialty pharmaceutical company servicing the ophthalmic market; Cortex Pharmaceuticals, a publicly traded neuroscience company developing memory enhancing drugs; and PenWest Pharmaceuticals, a publicly traded company commercializing drug delivery technologies. Previously, Dr. Drake sat on the Board of Directors at Lake Forest Hospital, Bowdoin College, and Blair Academy.
